SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 599 appropriates $75.0 from the General Fund to the Local Government Division of
the Department of Finance and Administration for one full-time equivalent employee at the
Corrales Fire Department.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $75.0 contained in the bill is a recurring expense to the General Fund. Any
unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY08 shall revert to the General
Fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
According to the Village of Corrales staff, including the Fire Chief, the Fire Department is
operating without one Fire Fighter EMT position. This is causing a potential safety hazard
concern for the community, overextending staff and placing the health and safety of the residents
as well as emergency response personnel in jeopardy.
