SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 39 appropriates $870 thousand from the general fund to department of Cultural
Affairs for the purpose of completing the second phase of construction at the Bosque Redondo
memorial project at Fort Sumner.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $870 thousand contained in this bill is a nonrecurring expense to the
general fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY08 shall
revert to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
The Bosque Redondo represents the location of a significant historical event occurring during the
territorial era of New Mexico. The Memorial to the Navajo and Mescalero Apache internment at
