A MEMORIAL
PROCLAIMING THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 8, 2007, AS "ARCA DAY" AT THE
SENATE IN RECOGNITION OF ARCA'S FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY.
WHEREAS, ARCA began providing community-based support
services with its child study center and its preschool and
recreational programs in 1957; and
WHEREAS, ARCA was founded by a group of caring families
seeking community-based opportunities for their
developmentally disabled children; and
WHEREAS, ARCA continues to honor the preference of
people with developmental disabilities to live, work and play
in their local communities through its encouragement and
support of families and the greater Albuquerque community;
and
WHEREAS, ARCA is the state's largest not-for-profit
provider of services to the developmentally disabled,
offering an array of critical support services to over five
hundred children and adults each year; and
WHEREAS, ARCA offers its recipients many options,
including community living, family living, employment,
community-inclusion services and a statewide prader willi:
project; and
WHEREAS, ARCA's compassionate work force of over six
hundred employees helps individuals with disabilities fulfill
