AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO FOR STATEWIDE LANGUAGE TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million five hundred thousand dollars ($1,500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to support statewide language teacher professional development in the use of educational content for Hispanic or Native American English-language learners. The curriculum materials to be used shall have been previously implemented in rural and pueblo communities for seventh through twelfth grade students. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
