AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE CULTURAL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT FOR THE FRAY ANGELICO CHAVEZ HISTORY LIBRARY.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the cultural affairs department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 for the Fray Angelico Chavez history library to acquire and preserve for posterity the archives of New Mexico publishers and writers, with particular emphasis on small publishers of books and newspapers and writers of history and historical works, and to cover the costs of videotaping interviews with New Mexico senior citizens to be preserved by the Fray Angelico Chavez history library. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
