AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A STATEWIDE CIVIC ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVE FOR THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 for the community learning and public service program to continue to implement its web-based civic curriculum for use in the classroom and with community organizations across the state to enhance civic education and to develop and sustain annual New Mexico civic engagement teacher institutes to advance teacher professional development and curriculum materials on civic education. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
