AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE COLLABORATIVE NETWORK.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two million four hundred thousand dollars ($2,400,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to contract with a nonprofit organization to complete the implementation of a health information exchange collaborative network in Bernalillo and Taos counties, expand the health information exchange network to serve rural and underserved communities outside Bernalillo and Taos counties, expand the health information exchange network to enhance existing telehealth services and expand the health information exchange network to facilitate the department of health's disease reporting and communication with physicians. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
