AN ACT

RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION; CREATING THE REGIONAL EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANCE CENTER AT THE NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. A new section of Chapter 21, Article 8 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] REGIONAL EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY ASSISTANCE CENTER CREATED.--The "regional educational technology assistance center" is created as a professional development center at New Mexico state university's college of extended learning. The center shall provide technology integration training into teaching and learning; professional development dossier creation; use of data to drive instruction to improve student learning outcomes; internet safety, online teaching and learning and technical assistance; faculty development in integrating technology and distance learning tools; and implementing the New Mexico learning network. All of the services provided shall be available to pre-kindergarten through college throughout New Mexico. The regional educational technology assistance center shall prepare an annual report for the legislature detailing the activities and accomplishments of the center."
