AN ACT

RELATING TO LAW ENFORCEMENT; PROVIDING FOR AN IN-SERVICE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING PROGRAM FOR NEW MEXICO MOUNTED PATROL MEMBERS; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. A new section of Chapter 29, Article 6 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:

     "[NEW MATERIAL] IN-SERVICE LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING OF THE NEW MEXICO MOUNTED PATROL.--The board of directors of the New Mexico mounted patrol shall develop and implement an in-service law enforcement training program for members of the New Mexico mounted patrol."

     Section 2. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 for a program to be developed and implemented by the board of directors of the New Mexico mounted patrol for in-service law enforcement training of New Mexico mounted patrol members. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
