AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SERVICES STATEWIDE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two million five hundred thousand dollars ($2,500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal years 2007 and 2008 to contract with a New Mexico coalition of domestic violence for programs statewide that provide shelter care, child and adolescent counseling, family counseling and crisis intervention for victims of domestic violence and their children. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
