AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR TEN DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PROGRAMS STATEWIDE; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal years 2007 and 2008 to contract with ten domestic violence programs statewide, including programs in Artesia, Belen, Carlsbad, Deming, Gallup, Grants, Hobbs, Roswell, Silver City and Albuquerque, to provide shelter care, child and adolescent counseling, family counseling and crisis intervention for victims of domestic violence and their children. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
