AN ACT
RELATING TO THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO DEVELOP EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS AND FUND A SYMPOSIUM FOR THE BOSQUE REDONDO MEMORIAL AT FORT SUMNER.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the cultural affairs department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to develop educational programs and fund a symposium for the Bosque Redondo memorial at Fort Sumner. The educational programs and symposium shall focus on the long walk of the Navajo and the internment of the Navajo and the Mescalero Apaches at the Bosque Redondo reservation in the 1860s. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
