AN ACT

RELATING TO REDISTRICTING; REQUIRING REDISTRICTING OF THE DISTRICTS OF THE STATE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES IN 2008; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. REDISTRICTING--HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.--The districts of the house of representatives shall be redistricted in 2008.

     Section 2. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the legislative council service for expenditure in fiscal years 2008 and 2009 for legal and technical services related to the redistricting of the districts of the New Mexico state house of representatives. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
