AN ACT
RELATING TO PUBLIC BUILDINGS; REQUIRING DISPLAY OF THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. DISPLAY OF FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES.--
A. Every public building or location in the state with a flagpole or other facility to display a flag, either owned or occupied by the state, a county, a municipality or other local government entity or an agency of the state, a county, a municipality or other local government entity, shall display the flag of the United States continually, as provided in Subsection B of this section, in salute and remembrance of members of the armed forces of the United States during operation Iraqi freedom and operation enduring freedom in Afghanistan.
B. The flag of the United States shall be properly illuminated during the hours of darkness and an all-weather flag shall be displayed when the weather is inclement.
C. The flag of the United States shall be displayed as required in this section until the president or the congress of the United States or an authorized official of the United States declares that both operations as described in Subsection A of this section have ended.
