AN ACT

RELATING TO THE PUBLIC REGULATION COMMISSION; REQUIRING QUARTERLY REPORTS TO THE LEGISLATIVE FINANCE COMMITTEE ON THE PROGRESS IN IMPLEMENTING THE QWEST SETTLEMENT AGREEMENT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. QWEST SETTLEMENT PROGRESS REPORTS REQUIRED.--Once each calendar quarter through June 30, 2010, the public regulation commission shall report to the legislative finance committee on the progress of implementing the provisions of the settlement entered into between the state and Qwest corporation in December 2006. The reports shall include progress made on designing and constructing settlement projects, progress made toward achieving high-speed internet availability throughout the state, expenditures and results of implementing the STRONG project and customer credits and rate reductions given pursuant to the settlement.
