AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FROM A CERTAIN SETTLEMENT FUND TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION AND EXECUTION OF THE "NEW MEXICO STRONG" PROJECT.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million six hundred sixty-six thousand six hundred sixty-seven dollars ($1,666,667) is appropriated for each fiscal year from fiscal year 2007 through fiscal year 2009 from the fund established pursuant to Section 3 of the Terms and Conditions of the Amended Settlement Agreement entered into between Qwest corporation and the state of New Mexico on December 15, 2006 to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal years 2007 through 2009 for the purpose of implementing and executing the "New Mexico STRONG" project. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the public regulation commission and be used for refunds to Qwest customers.
