AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR DEMOGRAPHIC RESEARCH OF THE STATE'S ALUMNI OF THE AMERICAN INDIAN GRADUATE CENTER.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Sixty-five thousand dollars ($65,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the higher education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to conduct thorough research on the current demographics of New Mexico alumni of the American Indian graduate center to determine how the center's graduate fellowship program has impacted the welfare of Indian communities and the state overall. The research will track educational credentials pursued and attained, employment data, leadership positions, honors and awards and involvement in Indian communities, subsequent to graduation. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
