AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND AND STAFF AN OFFICE OF NUCLEAR WORKER'S ADVOCACY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Six hundred ten thousand dollars ($610,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the office of the governor for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to provide advocacy and technical assistance and to act as a liaison for claimants seeking compensation pursuant to the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Act through an office of nuclear worker's advocacy administratively attached to the office of the governor. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
Section 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
