AN ACT
RELATING TO PUBLIC ASSISTANCE; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR PROGRAMS TO BENEFIT CHILDREN WITH NEURODEVELOPMENTAL DISORDERS, INCLUDING AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Seven million seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($7,750,000) is appropriated from the general fund for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 and subsequent fiscal years to establish and operate programs for neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism, as follows:
(1) six million dollars ($6,000,000) to the department of health to match medicaid funds for adaptive-skill-building services to children with an autism spectrum disorder;
(2) one million dollars ($1,000,000) to the department of health for the development and delivery of comprehensive training for professionals and parents on adaptive skill building for children with autism spectrum disorders and for a statewide family support network specific to autism spectrum disorders; and
(3) seven hundred fifty thousand dollars ($750,000) to the board of regents of the university of New Mexico for the center for development and disability and its health sciences center for expenditure for a multidisciplinary evaluation clinic for children with neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism spectrum disorder.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
