Mr. Speaker:

    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE BILL 220

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

     1. On page 3, line 6, strike "and" and between lines 6 and 7 insert the following new paragraph:

                "(7) develop and evaluate curricula, instructional programs and professional development programs in mathematics and science aligned with state academic content and performance standards; and".

     2. Renumber the succeeding paragraph accordingly.

     3. On page 6, line 9, after "districts" strike "and" and insert in lieu thereof a comma.

     4. On page 6, line 9, after "institutions" insert "and persons".

     5. On page 6, line 11, strike "programs or" and insert in lieu thereof "curricula and".

     6. On page 6, line 11, before the period insert "for public school students".,

and thence referred to the APPROPRIATIONS AND FINANCE COMMITTEE.
