AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR TOBACCO CESSATION PROGRAMS IN SOUTHWESTERN CIBOLA COUNTY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the Indian affairs department for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 and subsequent fiscal years to provide cultural demonstrations and presentations promoting tobacco cessation among residents of southwestern Cibola county in the region near the Ramah Navajo community by using examples and stories from the traditional Navajo mountain smoke ceremony that are told by traditional artisans, storytellers, elders and medicine men. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
