AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR AN ANTI-OBESITY, NUTRITION EDUCATION, SELF-ESTEEM AND FITNESS DANCE PROGRAM FOR LOW-INCOME, AT-RISK CHILDREN IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($1,250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2008 to contract with a nonprofit organization in Santa Fe county providing dance instruction and performance to implement an anti-obesity, nutrition education, self-esteem and fitness dance program for low-income, at-risk children in public elementary and middle schools statewide. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
