    Your EDUCATION COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

HOUSE MEMORIAL 20

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

     1. On page 1, line 11, strike "LEGISLATIVE EDUCATION STUDY COMMITTEE" and insert in lieu thereof "PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT, THE HIGHER EDUCATION DEPARTMENT AND THE OFFICE OF WORKFORCE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT" and after "TO" insert "COOPERATIVELY".

     2. On page 2, lines 4 and 5, strike "legislative education study committee" and insert in lieu thereof "public education department, the higher education department and the office of workforce training and development" and on line 5, before "undertake" insert "cooperatively".

     3. On page 2, between lines 18 and 19, insert the following:

     "BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the public education department, the higher education department and the office of workforce training and development report the findings and recommendations of their cooperative study to the legislative education study committee no later than October 1, 2006; and".

     4. On page 2, line 20, after the first occurrence of "the" insert "secretary of public education, the secretary of higher education, the executive director of the office of workforce training and development and the" and strike ", vice chair".
