SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Joint Resolution 002 proposes a Constitutional amendment to allow an annual salary for
state legislators that is fifteen percent of the salary paid to members of the United States Con-
gress. The SJR would allow legislators to claim per diem payments for travel between their home
and Santa Fe once each week during a legislative session rather than one time for each legislative
session.
OTHER SUBSTANTIVE ISSUES
The amendment proposed in SJR 2, if approved by both the Senate and the House, shall be sub-
mitted to the people for their approval or rejection at the next General Election or at any special
election prior to that date that may be called for that purpose.
