SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 516 appropriates $200 thousand from the general fund to the Department of Veter-
ans’ Services in FY07 to fund outreach and direct services to homeless veterans, including hous-
ing, employment training, placement, medical care and support services.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The $200 thousand appropriation would supplement current department efforts to assist home-
less veterans. The department has a $297 thousand federal grant which is supporting 30 beds
through FY07 for homeless veterans at the Veteran’s Integration Center in Albuquerque. The
Department also received $47.5 thousand from Laws 2005, Chapter 34 for homeless programs,
and has a request for a non-recurring supplemental funding of $200 thousand for FY06.
