SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
Senate Bill 103 appropriates $3.5 million from the general fund to the public education depart-
ment for the purpose of assisting school districts with membership less than two hundred stu-
dents.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $3.5 million contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert
to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
Small school districts with student populations less than or equal to 200 are not able to generate
sufficient revenue to meet operational obligations or mandated salaries. These funds would be
used to cover those amounts as needed.
Funds for this need are included in the fiscal year 2007 general appropriations act.
