SUMMARY
House Bill 775 appropriates $90.0 from the general fund to the Public Education Department
(PED) to support the violence prevention program in the West Las Vegas Public School district
in San Miguel County.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $90.0 in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund and is recurring.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert
to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
According to PED, from the Safe Schools Report for New Mexico Schools 2003-2004, the West
Las Vegas Public Schools reported a total of 47 incidents. In the 2004-2005 total reports in-
creased to 262. These incidents include: vandalism, illegal substance and violence.
