SUMMARY
House Bill 759 appropriates $35.0 from the general fund to the Cultural Affairs Department to
fund after-school community oriented mural projects to involve at-risk youth in the South Valley
of Bernalillo County.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
House Bill 759 appropriates $35.0 from the general fund and is recurring. Any unexpended or
unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
According to PED, this legislation would provide funding for after-school classroom cultural
teaching and learning activities in the South Valley of Bernalillo County. The classes for at-risk
youth visual arts and cultural to make a unique contribution to the South Valley in Bernalillo, to
the community, to the general public, to families and to at-risk students and encourage at-risk
youth to paint culturally relevant murals depicting the history, traditions, and customs of the
South Valley. The arts make unique contributions to education, culture and society.
