SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 727 appropriates $280,000 from the general fund to the Board of Regents of the Uni-
versity of New Mexico for expansion of their manufacturing engineering program.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $280,000 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund.
Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert
to the general fund.

SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
According to the Higher Education Department, this program was recommended for funding in
the amount of $628,300 in fiscal year 2007.
The line item proposal for this appropriation was not included in the Executive budget recom-
mendation or the LFC’s appropriation recommendations.
DUPLICATION AND RELATIONSHIP
Senate Bill 183 also appropriates $280,000 to UNM for the same purpose.
Senate Bill 283 also appropriates $280,000 to UNM for the same purpose.
Senate Bill 415/SFCS appropriates $100,000 to UNM for the same purpose.
House Bill 2 (HAFCS/ 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 778) appropriates $628,300 for the same purpose.
