Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 694 appropriates $83.0 from general fund to the DCA to carry out a survey of the
condition of public art created in public buildings statewide as a part of the Works Progress Ad-
ministration.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
House Bill 694 appropriates $83.0 from the general fund and is recurring. Any unexpended or
unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.

SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
According to DCA, funding in the legislation would only be available for WPA era artwork in
public buildings statewide.
ADMINISTRATIVE IMPLICATIONS
According to DCA, the agency would have to contract staff or issue a RFP to accomplish the
task.
ALTERNATIVES
According to DCA, these funds could be made a part of New Mexico Arts base budget for the
Art in Public Places Program (AIPP) to maintain and conserve all state owned historically sig-
nificant artwork.
