SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 628 appropriates $350 thousand from the general fund to ALTSD for the purpose of
funding a federal demonstration project known as naturally occurring retirement communities
and to contract with community service providers to provide an array of services to elderly per-
sons wishing to remain in their own homes.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $350 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general
fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of FY07 shall revert to the
general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
ALTSD notes the purpose of this appropriation is to develop and assess an innovative service
delivery model to enable senior citizens to avoid premature institutionalization through suppor-
