SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 609 appropriates $100,000 from the acequia and community ditch fund to the Board
of Regents of New Mexico State University for the Department of Agriculture to contract with a
hydrologist to identify water use conflicts in the Acoma, Gallitos, and Horace Springs area.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $100,000 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the acequia and
community ditch fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal
year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
This line-item appropriation is not included in the Executive budget recommendations or the
LFC’s budget recommendations.
