SUMMARY
Synopsis of Bill
House Bill 374 appropriates $50.0 from the general fund to the Public Education Department
(PED) for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to support school bus drivers in a national safety com-
petition. This program encourages school bus drivers to develop their skills and knowledge
through competitive participation.
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $50.0 contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general fund. Any
unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the
general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
Some issues revolve around which expenses will be covered for those participating in the compe-
tition, for instance, travel, lodging, meals, and entry fee; the criteria for choosing participants to
be sponsored; and how skills and knowledge gained might be used to improve the skills of the
drivers.
