SUMMARY
House Bill 249, “Family Violence Prevention Program” appropriates $36 thousand from the
general fund to the 2
nd
Judicial District Court for the purpose of funding two family violence
prevention programs: the “Say No to Abusing Power,” (SNAP) program and the “Program for
the Empowerment of Girls,” (PEG).
FISCAL IMPLICATIONS
The appropriation of $36.0 thousand contained in this bill is a recurring expense to the general
fund. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall
revert to the general fund.
SIGNIFICANT ISSUES
It is not clear for what the requested funds would be used and what the expected outcomes of the
program are.
PERFORMANCE IMPLICATIONS
This program is already operated at the 2
nd
Judicial District and does not have associated per-
formance measures.
Performance measures for the program expansion have not been proposed.
