MAKING ALLOCATIONS TO CORRECT SERIOUS DEFICIENCIES IN EDUCATIONAL
TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE AND TO REPLACE FUNCTIONALLY
OBSOLETE COMPUTERS AND NETWORK DEVICES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
STATEWIDE PLAN FOR EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY

I request that the following be funded:

to the educational technology deficiency correction fund
ED TECH INFRA-CORRECT DEFICIENCIES STATEWIDE
ninety-four million four hundred thousand dollars ($94,400,000) for expenditure in fiscal
year 2006 and subsequent fiscal years for the purpose of making allocations to correct
serious deficiencies in educational technology infrastructure pursuant to Section 22-15A-11
NMSA 1978. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a fiscal
year shall not revert to the general fund.

SCHL DIST COMPUTERS/NETWORKS REPLACE STATEWIDE
twenty-four million two hundred thousand dollars ($24,200,000) for expenditure in fiscal
years 2006 and 2007 for the purpose of making distributions to school districts to replace
functionally obsolete computers and network devices in accordance with the statewide plan
for the integration of educational technology into the public schools. Any unexpended or
unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general
fund. No distribution of this appropriation shall be made to a school district unless: (1) the
education technology bureau of the public education department, after requesting and
obtaining the advice of the council on technology in education, has approved the school
district's technology plan pursuant to the Technology for Education Act; and (2) the school
district has agreed to match the distribution with an amount determined pursuant to the
procedures of Paragraph (5) of Subsection B of Section 22-24-5 NMSA 1978.
