STATEWIDE VOTING SYSTEMS

eleven thousand dollars ($11,000,000) Notwithstanding the provisions of Sections 1-9-8 and

1-9-17 through 1-9-19 NMSA 1978, eleven million dollars ($11,000,000) is appropriated to

the secretary of state for expenditure in fiscal years 2006 through 2008 for the purchase and

installation of voting systems for counties statewide, including the requisite number of voting

booths, to meet the requirements of Section 1-9-7.1 NMSA 1978 if that provision is amended

by the forty-seventh legislature, second session, to require the use of voting systems that use

paper ballots. The appropriation shall be expended by December 31, 2007.
