AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO INCREASE MEDICAID REIMBURSEMENT FOR NURSING FACILITIES AND INTERMEDIATE CARE FACILITIES FOR THE MENTALLY RETARDED.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Ten million dollars ($10,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the human services department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to increase the medicaid reimbursement rate for nursing facilities and intermediate care facilities for the mentally retarded to maintain competitive wages, adequate staffing and local minimum wage requirements. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
