AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR SALARY INCREASES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Six million two hundred fifty-five thousand six hundred ninety-three dollars ($6,255,693) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of public safety for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to provide all commissioned officers with an average salary increase of twenty percent to address compaction issues in accordance with the New Mexico state police division career pay system and the Personnel Act as determined by the secretary of public safety and the director of the state personnel office. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
