AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO DEVELOP AN APPROPRIATE BILINGUAL CURRICULUM IN THE SANTA FE PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to develop an appropriate bilingual curriculum in the Santa Fe public schools. The appropriation shall be used to develop programs that meet the individual needs of English language learner students and to create and implement a plan of intensive professional development for all teachers that focuses on better serving English language learner students. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
