AN ACT

MAKING APPROPRIATIONS FOR DETERMINING WHETHER CHILDREN ARE COVERED BY HEALTH INSURANCE OR NEED ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION FOR MEDICAID.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--

          A. Three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the following departments for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to develop a process to determine whether children are covered by health insurance and, if they are not, to provide medicaid eligibility information:

                (1) two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) to the public education department for students in the public schools; and

                (2) one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to the children, youth and families department for children in licensed daycare centers.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
