Your PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
SENATE BILL 449
has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
1. On page 1, line 12, strike "THREE" and insert in lieu thereof "TWO".
2. On page 1, line 12, strike "FOR FIVE YEARS;" and insert in lieu thereof "; PROVIDING FOR A TRAINING WAGE;".
3. On page 1, lines 13 and 14, strike "ON FEBRUARY 1, 2006" and insert in lieu thereof "UP TO A CERTAIN AMOUNT".
4. On page 1, line 23, after "pay" insert "an employee".
5. On page 2, line 1, strike "six dollars fifty cents ($6.50)" and insert in lieu thereof "five dollars seventy-five cents ($5.75)".
6. On page 2, line 3, strike "seven dollars ($7.00)" and insert in lieu thereof "six dollars fifteen cents ($6.15)".
7. On page 2, line 3, after the period, strike the remainder of the line and strike lines 4 and 5 in their entirety.
8. On page 2, between lines 9 and 10, insert the following new subsection:,
"C. An employer may pay a training wage of not less than five dollars fifteen cents ($5.15) or the federal minimum wage, whichever is higher, an hour to a new employee in the first twelve months of employment.".
9. Reletter the succeeding subsections accordingly.
10. On page 3, line 11, strike "TEMPORARY" and strike the semicolon and insert in lieu thereof a dash.
11. On page 3, line 17, after the period, strike the remainder of the line and strike line 18 in its entirety.
12. On page 3, lines 21 and 22, strike "continue in full force and effect until repealed" and insert in lieu thereof "not allow for a minimum wage rate higher than nine dollars fifty cents ($9.50) an hour".,
and thence referred to the CORPORATIONS AND TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE.
