AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO PROMOTE AWARENESS OF AND PARTICIPATION IN BASKETBALL ACTIVITIES.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to promote awareness of and participation in basketball-related activities, including mentoring programs, sporting events, lectures and internship programs, organized by a non-university-based basketball team. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
