AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO SUPPORT GRANDPARENTS AND KINSHIP CAREGIVERS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. Four hundred five thousand dollars ($405,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 as follows:
(1) seventy-five thousand dollars ($75,000) for staff, travel and support for an advisory committee on grandparents and kinship caregivers;
(2) eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) to create a kinship caregivers web site; and
(3) two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) to contract with legal services to support kinship caregivers' efforts to establish legal relationships between children and caregivers for children who would otherwise enter the foster care system.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
