AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO LEVERAGE FEDERAL DOLLARS TO PROMOTE COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERISM.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Six hundred thousand dollars ($600,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the children, youth and families department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 as follows:

                (1) two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) to leverage federal VISTA funds to support volunteer efforts of up to fifteen community-based organizations throughout the state; and

                (2) three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) to leverage federal americorps funds to support training and operations of americorps projects in up to fifteen community-based organizations throughout the state.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
