AN ACT
RELATING TO HEALTH; PROVIDING FOR A BREAST CANCER STUDY; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. TEMPORARY PROVISION--BREAST CANCER STUDY.--The department of health, in conjunction with the New Mexico health policy commission and the New Mexico health sciences center of the university of New Mexico, shall conduct a study to review or determine the environmental and physiological impacts on the causation of breast cancer, including interviews with victims of breast cancer, compilation of existing research and recommendations for ongoing education. The department of health shall provide a written report to the governor and the legislative health and human services committee by September 1, 2007.
Section 2. APPROPRIATION.--One million six hundred thousand dollars ($1,600,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal years 2007 and 2008 to conduct a study to review or determine the environmental and physiological impacts on the causation of breast cancer. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2008 shall revert to the general fund.
