AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR PUBLIC SCHOOL ADVANCED PLACEMENT INITIATIVES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. One million three hundred thousand dollars ($1,300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to fund a program to expand advanced placement participation in public schools around the state, in the following amounts for the following purposes:
(1) seven hundred thousand dollars ($700,000) to expand advanced placement for nontraditional participants;
(2) three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) for an advanced placement summer institute;
(3) one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to expand advanced placement opportunities for rural school students; and
(4) two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) to expand advanced placement teacher professional development.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
