AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO DEVELOP DENTAL HYGIENE PROGRAMS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. One million five hundred thirty thousand dollars ($1,530,000) is appropriated from the general fund for expenditure in fiscal years 2007 through 2009 as follows:
(1) five hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($525,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico state university to provide start-up funds for a dental hygiene program at Dona Ana branch community college;
(2) five hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($525,000) to the board of regents of eastern New Mexico university to provide start-up funds for a dental hygiene program at the Roswell branch campus;
(3) three hundred fifty thousand dollars ($350,000) to the higher education department to provide start-up funds for a dental hygiene program at Luna community college in Las Vegas; and
(4) one hundred thirty thousand dollars ($130,000) to the higher education department to develop and implement an interactive distance education program for dental hygiene and dental assistance degree programs.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2009 shall revert to the general fund.
