FOR THE WELFARE REFORM OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR FULL FUNDING OF ADULT BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAMS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the higher education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to fully fund adult basic education programs. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of the fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
