FOR THE LEGISLATIVE HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE

 

AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES IN SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--

          A. Three million three hundred thousand dollars ($3,300,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 for behavioral health services in southern New Mexico as follows:

                (1) two million five hundred thousand dollars ($2,500,000) for inpatient assessment and treatment of individuals who are under protective custody or are under thirty-day involuntary civil commitment pursuant to Sections 43-1-10 through 43-1-13 NMSA 1978;

                (2) four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) to establish and operate mobile crisis teams to work with law enforcement to respond to and prevent life-threatening situations through appropriate action; and

                (3) four hundred thousand dollars ($400,000) for residential and nonresidential transitional treatment or temporary bed days for court-ordered jail diversion.

          B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
