AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO FUND NURSING EDUCATION SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of nursing for expenditure in fiscal year 2007 to contract with a consultant with expertise in nursing education to analyze existing nursing programs, develop standardized admission and general education requirements, develop a plan to implement career advancement programs, expand nursing education to rural and tribal areas and recommend other improvements to the system of nursing education in the state. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2007 shall revert to the general fund.
